The Society runs its own premises with a workshop in Helsinki, at the address Lääkärinkatu 8, building 8, 00250 Helsinki. The workshop offers machines and appliances to work stones – saws, cabochon cutting, carving and facet cutting machinery.
All members, who have taken the cabochon cutting course, may work their own stones at the workshop. A small payment per hour is charged for the use of the workshop.
There is a small mineral collection, and a library with Finnish and foreign magazines and books about rocks and minerals, which the members may consult. The publications are not allowed to loan out, but members may take photocopies at the workshop.
The workshop is open during the spring and autumn seasons from Monday till Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m., except every second Monday of each month the workshop closes at 5 p.m. due to the monthly meeting.
During summer time, mid June to Mid August, the premises are open one evening per week: in 2018 the workshop is open on summer Wednesdays from 5 to 8 p.m.
The workshop is closed for Easter holidays, Ascension Day, 1st of May, Independence Day 6th December, and Christmas period (mid December to mid January). More exact dates may be found in the Finnish language pages.
